April 19, 2020
Dear faculty and students,
We hope that you and your families are staying healthy and safe in this unprecedented time. We received an update from our management team about Teradata Universe 2020 below:
“We appreciate your support and are sensitive to the fact that the coronavirus, or COVID-19, is currently affecting many tradeshows and conferences. Ensuring the safety of our customers, partners, employees, and attendees is a top priority for Teradata. To that end, we have decided to delay Teradata Universe 2020. We will hold the conference in-person, live in San Diego, October 24–28, 2021, and deliver the same quality content that makes Universe the top analytics conference each year.”

While Teradata Universe 2020 will not happen as planned, Teradata University for Academics decided to proceed with the 2020 Data and Analytics Challenges in a fully virtual format. We are anticipating many submissions to the challenges from all over the United States and the world, and we want to ensure that student teams who have worked really hard to present their cases for the challenges will get a chance to do so!  In addition, we have a commitment to our generous partner, Taproot Foundation, and they need your help now more than ever!
If you (or your students) are working on your submissions, please continue to do so as planned. Our submission deadline for the competitions will not change, with all submissions for both Analytics and Data Challenges due on MAY 31, 2020, by 11:59 PM your local time.
We will provide you another detailed update on our Teradata University for Academics website and in our May newsletter, sometime in the next few weeks, to instruct participants on how to proceed should their teams are chosen to be finalists in both challenges.  Please note that since the finalist presentations will be done virtually, we most likely will move up the date much earlier than October.  We are even more excited to receive our 2020 submissions. Keep up the hard work, good luck as you close out the spring semester and stay tuned!
Thank you for your continued participation in Teradata University for Academics Challenges and for your understanding as we are navigating this new normal due to COVID-19.
